When seawater enters ElectroStrainer, it passes through a series of electrified titanium plates that are coated with a rare earth metal oxide catalyst. An electrochemical reaction generates a safe and effective low level of chlorine. Treated seawater is diffused throughout the sea strainer basket and carried through the seawater lines, preventing marine growth and keeping your air conditioners, chillers, and refrigerators blowing cool air.

The Smart Strainer Flow Alert feature allows the user to set a minimum seawater flow rate threshold value. If the seawater flow rate drops below the minimum value for a period of time, STRAINER will flash on the display.

As soon as you’re done descaling with Barnacle Buster®, Rydlyme Marine®, and other acids, then biofouling resumes when you turn your air conditioner seawater pump on.

Biofouling requires air conditioners to overwork, shortening their lifespan. According to Barnacle Buster®, “as growth forms inside the condenser coil, heat transfer will be greatly decreased causing efficiency to drop. This will cause the compressor to work much harder, thus increasing amperage draw.”

Stop using harsh acid descalers

Barnacle Buster® and RYDLYME® are made of phosphoric acid (<10%) and hydrochloric acid (5-9%). The pH for Barnacle Buster is between 1.0 – 1.25, which means it is considered a "strong acid”. According to RYDLYME®, the descaler “is non-corrosive, but the application of RYDLYME may expose pre-existing under deposit corrosion (pitting, holes or similar damage) that can result in leaks in pipes, equipment or systems.”
